In Abtenau there are a few ski slopes where the perfect conditions for beginners and children to ski are mainly found. No long runs, no busy slopes and especially no difficult descents. If you are an advanced skier and are looking for more of a challenge, this is possible in the Dachstein-West ski area, about a 10-minute drive from Haus Tanne. In Dachstein-West you can enjoy wonderful skiing tours, including the 'Panaronda'. This is a 44km long ski route through the entire area from Annaberg to Russbach and Gosau. If you are looking for even more variety, you can also ski in six other ski areas with the Dachstein-West ski pass. The whole of Dachstein-West has a total of around 160 km of slopes.

For cross-country skiers, there are also numerous routes around Abtenau. There are routes for beginner cross-country skiers, but also all-day trips that show you the area around Abtenau from a different perspective.

For a mixed group that wants to experience all aspects of winter sports together, I recommend driving to the Postalm. Here you can alpine ski, cross-country ski, tube, snowshoe hike or enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and watch others have fun.
